Davenport holds library card sign-up event

The Davenport Public Library is presently celebrating sign-up month for library cards.

People who come into the library to renew a previous card or sign up for a new one will receive a free gift. In addition, those who currently hold a card for the library, as well as new holders, will be able to visit 16 local businesses offering some specials this month. Participation in these offerings requires picking up a punch card from the library.

Among the participating businesses are; Lagomarcino's, which is offering 50 cents off a hot fudge sundae; Wide River Winery, offering 10% off any purchase; Blue Spruce, which is offering a free cookie with the purchase of a sandwich; and Petersen's Wild Bird Shop, offering a finch feeder for no extra charge.

More information about such special offerings can be made available to the public with Flyers and other printed materials created by local Print shops.

The Davenport Public Library has also been selected by Lopiez Pizza as the Artist of the Month. Patrons of the establishment who purchase the signature pizza of the month will get 10% of the proceeds from the sale go to the Friends of the Davenport Public Library, which will help to support materials and programs.

There are three branches of the Davenport Public Library—one in downtown, one on the west side, and the other in the northeast part of the city.
