Woodworking class scheduled

An interesting class for woodworkers is on the schedule in Sandy Springs.

The class is one of a series of lectures and projects, each focusing on a specific aspect of woodcarving. The upcoming class will discuss using to create a project, and then finish it on a CNC machine. CNC is an acronym meaning “Computer Numerical Control,” and refers to the practice of having computers control machine tools.

Manufacturing processes that might be controlled by a computer include it telling a machine how fast to perform a certain operation, or in which direction to move a cutting blade, or when to turn a cooling spray on or off.

Students in the Sandy Springs class will be working with V-Carve Software, and the Rockler/Next Wave Shark machine. They are asked to bring their laptop, already loaded with V-Carve software. The program is a product of Vetric, and demonstration versions can be downloaded for free from the vetric.com website. All other materials required for the class are included.

For their safety, participants' clothing should not be loose, and they need to tie back long hair, roll up long sleeves, and wear closed-toe shoes. The shop will provide free safety glasses.

The woodworking class will run from 1.00 pm until 4.00 pm on January 25, at Rockler Woodworking and Hardware on Roswell Road. Brochure printing can be used to create detailed informative materials for events like this.
