They stood beneath umbrellas, watching as veterans and local officials officially dedicated the park. The event concluded when the color guard hoisted the American flag flagpole in the park.
Previously, the event was held at the Performing Arts Centre. Printing services can be used to let people know when annual events change locations.
Mayor Rusty Paul was in attendance and gave a speech where he said:
“It is the day to remember the men and women who have answered the call to duty and put their lives on the line to protect our freedom, our veterans who give of themselves in their service to our country, especially those who have given the ultimate sacrifice.”
According to Paul, the Census Bureau reports that roughly 4,000 veterans currently call Sandy Springs home, with over 600,000 in Georgia.
The keynote speaker was retired Colonel Brent Cummings. He was an infantry officer for 28 years and is currently the director of a corporation that strives to promote and strengthen elder law enforcement growth.
Cummings stated that the years he spent in the Middle East were not filled with philosophical talks or political or religious conflicts. Their only concern was to execute their duties effectively and complete their objectives while looking out for one another.
