Sandy Springs drivers who regularly take Riverside Drive might consider looking for a different way to get to their destinations.
The city will close part of the drive in order to improve it. Specifically, the city will close the route to through traffic just south of Johnson Ferry Road, in order to realign a sharp curve that exists in the road. While the construction is underway, the intersection will be shut down, and motorists will have to use a detour.
The city is asking motorists to be very cautious when traveling through the construction area, and obey the speed limits as they are posted. Additional Signs will be posted to help people find their way through the construction zone.
Precision 2000, Inc., won the bid and will be performing the work. In addition to straightening the curve, the contractor will install sidewalks and guardrails. The construction is expected to be finished by late August, 2015, depending on weather conditions.
The affected section of Riverside Drive will be closed starting May 26. The city has made a map of suggested detours available on line. Officials could also work with a flyer printing company on a mailer for residents that would list possible detours, as well as a schedule of the work, as far as it can be predicted.Get a Free Quote for Signs
