Sandy Springs reopens Windsor Parkway

Windsor Parkway in Sandy Springs, which has been under repair since January 15, reopened ahead of scheduled this month.

The parkway opened on the afternoon of March 12, since crews had finished their repairs with time to spare.

Problems with structural integrity relating to construction at Jolyn Place at Windsor Parkway, dealing with the detention of storm water, forced the closure.

Windsor is being realigned to the northwest, to Roswell Road from Jolyn. The realignment will create a 90-degree intersection between Roswell and Windsor, near Gateway, a mixed-used development. Removing the angle and turning the intersection into a traditional 90-degree crossroads will help improve traffic flow. The current intersection is a short distance south of the projected one, at a shopping center that hosts Einstein Bros. Bagels and other enterprises.

The stormwater part of the project was handled by Summit construction of Stone Mountain, while Baldwin Paving Company of Marietta, took over the realignment portion of the project.

The reopening comes as particularly good news to residents of the Meadowbrook neighborhood, since people were cutting through the area at high speeds while Windsor Parkway was closed.

The portion of Windsor that is being realigned should open in mid-April.

Sandy Springs officials might want to work with a flyer printing company on a mailer for residents telling them Windsor Parkway is open again, and about the upcoming changes.
