Sandy Springs officials recently approved a change in the parking policy for spaces downtown, allowing people to park for two hours for free, in parking spaces at street level.
The policy change is being made to accommodate customers who are coming downtown to enjoy breakfast or lunch at local restaurants, and for those visiting the various boutiques found in Market Square. However, cars that are parked longer than the allowed two hours will face penalties.
The three initial offenses will result in a fine of $25, but the fourth
time a car violates the two-hour limit, it will be towed. Signs
explaining these policies can be posted to inform drivers of the policy,
and officials can use poster printing to create the signage.
There is also free, two-hour parking available in the underground parking deck. When events are held in Sandy Springs, valet parking will be available, and flat-rate parking for a specific occasion will also be in effect. In addition, if someone is parked for longer than two hours but has been patronizing local merchants, the retailers can validate their parking deck tickets.
Drivers will find it easy to get to the parking spaces in the underground deck. Coming from Roswell Road, the east entrance is on the right, off Galambos Way, which is reached from Mt. Vernon Highway. The west entrance is beneath the Aston apartments.
