The show, advertised by a round of poster printing and hosted by Act 3 Productions in Sandy Springs, was the second running of the event. Put together by the Drake House charity under its Drake Closet clothing banner, the catwalk was taken to by volunteer models only.
Working throughout the whole of the North Fulton area, the Drake House assessment center helps homeless women and their children. Providing them with housing and support to get back on their feet, it can also help them find employment.
To help fund the efforts, the charity launched the Drake Closet initiative. With two bricks-and-mortar outlets in Alpharetta and Roswell, people can donate their used clothing (provided it is in good condition), knowing that all proceeds go directly to the charity.
Explaining how the June 10 fashion show was a complete triumph for the charity, its director Karen Pye said:
"The evening was a great success.
"We sold out, and that's wonderful.
"I think it really raised awareness, not only for what the Closet is, but for what the Drake House does in terms of serving homeless women and their children."
As well as the fashion show, guests were also treated to songs from Maggie Taylor from Act 3 Productions and heard speeches from those with real life experience of being homeless.
