The City of Sandy Springs is considering building a new fire station, and is encouraging members of the public to attend a meeting to discuss the issue. The new station would be located in the northern end of the city, in the area known as the ‘Panhandle’. The city wants to build the new station in order to enhance fire service in that section of the community.
The Panhandle is described as being bounded on the east by Holcomb Bridge Road, on the south by the DeKalb County line-Dunwoody city limits and Dunwoody Club Drive, and on the north by the Chattahoochee River.
Currently, there are five Fire-Rescue Department stations in Sandy Springs. Station 1 is on Spalding Drive, Station 2 is located on Johnson Ferry Road, Station 3 is on Raider Drive, Station 4 on Wieuca Road, and Station 5 is located on Holcomb Bridge Road.
The meeting is set for Tuesday, March 27 at City Hall, Building 500 at 7840 Roswell Road in Sandy Springs, and is set to start at 6:30 pm. Keith Sanders, the fire chief of Sandy Springs, will make a formal presentation, after which there will be a question-and-answer session.
Issues like this can have a communitywide impact, so officials might consider working with a flyer printing company to create an agenda for people attending the meeting.
