Run to raise money for shoes

A 5k run is being organized by a student from Mount Vernon School in Sandy Springs.

Collin Maher’s stated goal with this run is to raise money so that students at Lake Forest Elementary School can afford shoes. He is partnering with a company called Raceworks to ensure that the race can be a qualifier for the AJC Peachtree Road Race and that the course is USATF-certified. Flyer printing is an effective way of promoting local events like this.

Every runner who finishes the race will be given a Yeti Cup that will feature the Cocoa Classic logo on it, and is filled with fresh hot cocoa. The first finishers can also expect to great prizes from sponsors such as BioLyte.

Collin Maher is ranked nationally as a runner and also runs on his school’s cross-country and track teams. With so much experience in the sport, he is well aware of the importance of good footwear. The goal is to raise enough money to purchase shoes for all of the students at Lake Forest Elementary School where over 60% of the students require economic assistance.

The Cocoa Classic 5k Run will be on February 18 and it will kick off from Mount Vernon High School at 9:00 am. Registration can be completed online with a registration fee of $40-50 depending on how early the runners register.
