The Black Sheep Ensemble will once again be leading the procession at this year’s Sandy Springs Lantern Parade.
Giant lantern puppets, as well as the signature marching band, are back for another year. The band will take people all the way down to the iconic Morgan Falls Overlook Park where the lanterns will be brought to life on the banks of the Chattahoochee River. This is a great opportunity to dance with great heron puppets that measure up to 12 feet tall. This unique show will be topped off by an albino alligator that stretches out to 26 feet long.
The giant puppets are created and designed by Chantelle Rytter. They are brought to life thanks to performances from the High County Outfitters paddle pros and the Krewe of the Grateful Gluttons. Stationery printers could produce advertising media for events like this.
Pre-parade and warm-up activities will be held in the parking lot for the Steel Canyon Golf Club. The pre-parade runs from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on April 16th. The main parade will start at 8:15 PM before the parade starts heading to Morgan Falls Overlook Park where the attendees will be entertained by the spectacle of floating lanterns. Attendees are encouraged to create their own lanterns and join in on the parade. All lanterns must be lit by battery powered lights, with no fire-lit or flying lanterns allowed.
