The “Take it to the River Lantern Parade” will be in Sandy Springs next month. The event is open to the public.
The parade is one of the city’s annual traditions. Residents will bring lanterns and release them down the riverside. The event will also feature pre-parade activities, where participants can enjoy food and entertainment. Organizers have prepared some ideas and instructions for creating lanterns on the event’s website. Printing services can also be used to help produce some of the materials needed at events like this.
The Sandy Springs Farmers Market will also be selling lantern kits on May 22 and 29. There will be a variety of options for buyers to choose from, including lanterns shaped like parasols and flying pigs. Anyone with a flying pig lantern can also lead the parade at the front. Ace Hardware and High-Country Outfitters will also have lanterns for sale. Prices for lanterns will be anywhere from $5 to $30.
The event will happen outside, but participants are still encouraged to wear face masks and maintain social distancing.
The event will take place on June 5th at 9:15 PM. Pre-parade activities will begin at 7:00 PM at the Steel Canyon Golf Club at 460 Morgan Falls Road. Once the parade moves towards the river, entrants will walk down to Morgan Falls Overlook Park to release their lanterns.
