Arts center appoints new chief

There is a new director for the Performing Arts Center in Sandy Springs, according to a recent announcement by the city.

Officials revealed that Shaun Albrechtson will be taking over the management of the center, bringing over 20 years' experience in managing arts organizations and venues. In Colorado, he was Assistant Cultural Director for Programming at the PACE Center, a city-owned arts venue in Parker. The PACE Center offers 50,000 square feet for events, including a theater that seats 540, classrooms, an amphitheater that seats 3,000, and rooms for events.

Before he began working in Parker, Albrechtson was the Director of Production for the Austin campus of the University of Texas system, where he planned and implemented special events. Prior to that, he worked with the Intiman Theatre in Seattle, and at the Orcas Center in Eastsound, in Washington State. He also spent time in San Diego, at the Taylor Performing Arts Center. Albrechtson was graduated from Charter Oak State College with a Bachelor of Arts, and holds a Master of Arts Administration he earned at the University of Kentucky.

Of his upcoming position in Sandy Springs, Albrechtson said he was looking forward to working with the staff at the center and the residents of Sandy Springs to create exciting seasons of art, music, education, theater, and other events at the Performing Arts Center.
