African American art to be featured at exhibit

The High Museum of Art in Atlanta will be holding an exhibit featuring the works of David Driskell. Those living in Atlanta and nearby cities like Sandy Springs and Norcross are welcome to attend.

The exhibit looks to showcase the artwork from Driskell, an African American artist whose career spanned from the 1950s to the 2000s. Driskell's artwork focuses on American landscapes, and he features images related to the African diaspora. Driskell passed away last year, and the event aims to honor his memory and work.

Entrants can expect to see around 60 different paintings when visiting the exhibit. Driskell’s work has previously been featured in both public and private collections, from which the museum has gathered select pieces. Organizers hope that guests will understand Driskell’s progression as an artist and how he integrated his cultural heritage with his artwork. These types of events are often supported with brochure printing, so guests can expect more information at the exhibit.

The exhibit will run from February 6 to May 9. The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday between 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and general admission is $14.50. Due to the pandemic, all guests must purchase a timed ticket for entry. The museum has implemented this system to control the number of entrants in the building at any given time.
