The first Homeowner Resource Center in Gwinnett County is now open in Norcross. The Gwinnett Housing Corporation (GHC) partnered with the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) of Norcross to purchase the building on Lawrenceville Street and then with Lennar and HomeAid Atlanta to renovate the building.
Vice President of Operations for Lennar Atlanta, Tom Bowers, expressed his gratitude to the partnership with HomeAid Atlanta as it enabled his organization to connect with the Norcross DDA and the Gwinnett Housing Corporation to work on this project. He said that this facility will now enable residents of the city and county to be able to own a home.
The Homeowner Resource Center will work with many other organizations such as Money Management International, Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America, and Atlanta Neighborhood Development Partnership, Inc. to provide programming such as referrals for help with down payments, counseling on housing, home modification activities, and access to lenders, non-profit developers, and owner-occupied rehabilitation. GHC will also provide access to transitional housing, rental housing, and assistance with shelters.
More details about such services and programs are often made available with brochure printing.
Lejla Prljaca, Chief Executive Officer of GHC, expressed her excitement about offering this resource to families as a way to help maintain the rates of home ownership in the county given the many barriers faced today by first-time home buyers.
