McDonough Elementary’s long anticipated new sidewalks, curbs, and crosswalks are now in place thanks to a state grant provided to Henry County Schools.
In 2009, parents received news that students living within a mile of the school would no longer be provided with transportation. However, parents of McDonough Elementary students, as well as those of six other county schools, have less cause for concern now due to the new sidewalks, crosswalks, lights, and curbs being installed.
Amidst growing concern and complaints, county offices applied to and received grant from Safe Routes to School Call for Infrastructure Projects via the Georgia Department of Transportation. The grants cover a variety of infrastructure projects that enhance the safety of children traveling to school by foot or bicycle, such as school-zone Signs, crosswalks, curbs, and sidewalks.
Keeping children safe, not only at school but in transit, is a responsibility with which a Print company can often be of assistance by providing Brochures outlining safety procedures and precautions and keeping locals in the loop on new developments like this.
Safety stripping and lights are all that are needed to complete the McDonough Elementary project, and these projects are expected to soon be completed. The Department of Transportation has said all work should be finished by the end of January 2015.Get a Free Quote for Brochures Get a Free Quote for Print Get a Free Quote for Signs
