Taste of Henry, a fundraising food event taking place next month in McDonough, is expected to attract as many as 2,000 people to sample cuisines from a wide range of local restaurants.
From gourmet meals to southern country classics, as many as 55 different food participants will present their culinary delights. That is up from just 10 food vendors who participated when it was first held in 2001.
Small portions will allow attendees to taste a full range of main courses, hors d'oeuvres, and desserts.
The event will benefit Friend’s House, a community foster care home that looks after maltreated children. As a signature event for the non-profit organization, Taste of Henry provides 100 percent of its profits to the support of foster children.
Since Friend’s House opened in 1998, more than 3,200 children and young people have been provided a safe place to grow, learn, receive medical care, and enjoy sports and other activities.
In addition to the food samples, ticket holders will enjoy live music as well as games and prizes for all ages. Sponsors have made it possible for organizers to hand out more than 2,000 swag Bags.
