Hands-on learning for future innovators in McDonough

Henry County STEM Day in McDonough will offer fun educational activities in science and mathematics for all ages.

Next month’s interactive learning will place a focus on science, technology, engineering, and math projects, studies, and experiments.

STEM Day was introduced in the US in 2015 after research indicated students were behind academically in science and math. Over the years, other countries also have joined in celebrating STEM Day in order to build awareness of the benefits of education and inspire the next generation of thinkers.

With a mission of encouraging careers in science and technology, it is most specifically directed towards increasing interest in these fields of study by underrepresented groups such as women and minorities.

While events may be held on days throughout the week, National STEM Day is officially marked on November 8th and, through a play-on-words, is often referred to as “Nov8” since it sounds like “innovate.”

Participants at the McDonough celebration will be able to enjoy STEM demonstrations, training sessions, and educational games, and can also take part in fun challenges with an opportunity to win prizes.

Organizers of educational events such as this often use area Print shops to create their lesson materials.

Henry County STEM Day activities will be held on Saturday, November 7 at the main campus of the Tabernacle of Praise Church from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Tickets are available online.
