Master plan for McDonough parks moves to public discussion phase

As the next step in the development of a comprehensive plan for McDonough parks, community input will be sought at two public comment sessions next month.

The city will host the sessions to receive feedback so that the master plan properly reflects the community’s voice.

Last year, a request for proposals was made for the creation of an economically viable vision for city parks over the next decade. The resulting plan will be a blueprint to guide the design, growth and operation of the parks network, and mapping of area green spaces.

It will have a broad scope that includes not only parks but also the city cemetery and Hazelhurst House, a historic mansion on three acres with lush, landscaped grounds.

Citizens, business owners, and other interested parties are invited to attend the sessions to offer their input on local parks and green spaces, based on information provided by the city’s consulting firm.

Civic governments often use printing services to prepare handout materials at public forums such as this.

The public comment sessions for the McDonough parks master plan will take place Thursday, August 13 and Tuesday, August 18 both from 6:00 pm to 7:30 p.m. The meetings will be held in the city council chambers, on the second floor at City Hall, 136 Keys Ferry Street in McDonough.
