McDonough theater to hold auditions for upcoming show

The Henry Players in McDonough will be looking for new cast members in February for the play Morningside by Topher Payne.

Those interested in joining the Henry Players in Morningside can read for a role at the group’s upcoming auditions. Actors will need to do a cold reading from the play’s script and are not required to do a monologue. Nine roles need to be filled for the show.

Morningside is a play about a disastrous baby shower filled with drama, professional conflicts, and battles of will. The directors of the production are Elise Gomez and Melissa Martin.

The Henry Players is a local theater group that organizes several shows each year. The organization performs musicals such as Newsies and Rent while also offering comedic and dramatic plays like The Red Velvet Cake War. Melissa Martin is the group president, and Elise Gomez is the marketer. Companies can sponsor the organization to help pay for updated wireless microphones for the actors.

The auditions for Morningside will take place on February 7 and 8 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Callbacks for the performance will be held on February 9 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The show will debut on April 21 and will continue until May 1. Theaters such as this may advertise their auditions to the public by using poster printing to make displays.
