An evening for residents of Henry County to meet, greet, and learn more about its police departments is being held in this week.
Henry County’s National Night Out is being sponsored this year by Office Depot and held in the McDonough Target parking lot on Jonesboro Road. It will be an evening filled will free refreshments, booths highlighting the efforts of law enforcement, and professional demonstrations. Amidst the live music and numerous festive activities, county residents will have opportunities to chat with community leaders and emergency responders, with local police featuring heavily.
National Night Out was originated in 1984 by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) as a means of initiating and building strong police-community relationships to promote safety in neighbors across the U.S. The NATW is composed of police, civic groups, neighborhood watch teams, individual concerned citizens, and regional anti-crime organizations. Spearheading the local event has been Chief of Police Keith Nichols, Fire Chief Bill Lacy, Emergency 911 Director Don Ash, and Henry County Sheriff Keith McBrayer
National Night Out, which occurs in communities throughout the country, is promoted in a variety of ways. While some communities rely on a flyer printing service, others prefer a poster printing or a banner printing service. The Henry County National Night Out will take place from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm tomorrow, August 4.
