After a two-year absence, the Geranium Jam is returning to provide a grand finale to the 2015 Geranium Festival.
The year will mark the 38th appearance of the event and, for the first time since 2012, the festival will close out with its own special concert.
The 2015 Jam is being hosted by the City of McDonough, McDonough Main Street, and McDonough Hospitality, with funds provided by the Tourism and Main Street boards.
The last Jam featured Atlanta-based Drivin’ N Cryin’ in addition to performances by Bogey and the Viceroy, as well as Highway 55. This year’s entertainment will be headlined by the classic Southern rock band Atlanta Rhythm Section. The biggest hits over their 30-year career have included ‘Imaginary Lover’, ‘So Into You’, and ‘Spooky’.
Proceeds from the Geranium Jam will raise funds for Georgia Wounded Heroes, which provides assistance to Georgia soldiers, firefighters, and police officers injured in the line of duty. Additionally it will provide funds for the city’s downtown beautification projects, as well as McDonough’s New Year’s Eve Geranium Drop.
The Geranium Festival is free and takes place from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in downtown McDonough on May 16. The Geranium Jam will be held at Alexander Park later that evening, from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Jam tickets cost $20.
Large free events that take place outdoors, such as festivals, often benefit from a banner printing service.
