Norcross library to hold unique events

The Norcross branch of the Gwinnett County Public Library will be celebrating Hispanic Heritage month in October with a special guest.

“Let There be Dragons,” a book written by Nadeen Green that is in both English and Spanish, will be discussed. Written for children, the fairy tale dragons in the book must take refuge in the sea because people are afraid of them. The goal of the book is to raise awareness of how real sea animals need to protect their habitats in the ocean and to highlight how the planet should be shared among all creatures. The illustrations will also be discussed as a way to make the story come alive.

This event will take place beginning at 10:30 am on Thursday, October 10. It is free and open to the public with light refreshments served and crafts for the children. There will be Books for sale and signing by the author. Such special events are often promoted using banner printing.

Also to be held on October is the Chalktoberfest Sidewalk Art Contest for teenagers between the ages of 13 and 18, although younger children can attend if accompanied by an adult. People can stop by the library between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm and use chalk to create a piece of art. Winners will be chosen by online voting and will win a prize.
