Work begins on park updates in Duluth

The ground has been broken on the Bunten Road Park Walking Trail Improvements project in Duluth.

Among the improvements that will be made as part of the project include enhancing the existing walking trail with the addition of new sections to improve connectivity, replacing and repairing parts of the trail that have deteriorated over the past 25 years due to due the growth of trees and erosion, creating a loop in compliance with the ADA that overlaps with the main walking trail, making ADA-compliant adaptations to parking, creating an ADA-accessible entrance to the playground behind the recreation center, improvements to the safety of the restrooms by the tennis courts, and improvements to the stormwater infrastructure at the park.

Construction will take place from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. The park will stay open while this work takes place, with partial closure primarily along the walking trail. The summer programs at the park will not be impacted by this work. Flyer printing can be used to notify residents of local closures and provide construction updates in cases like this, helping people plan around them and keeping them informed of their progress.

The project is expected to be finished by Spring 2027. The final repaving of all parking lots on site will be completed during the spring break of 2027.
