Duluth to celebrate sesquicentennial

“The Big 150: Off the Rails” will be held in Duluth in September to commemorate 150 years of the city’s culture, community, and growth.

Businesses, community partners, residents, and visitors are expected to come together for a citywide festival that honors the past, present, and future of the city.

Featured at the event will be carnival games, live music throughout the day, family-friendly entertainment, food vendors, and interactive activities spread throughout downtown.

Festivities during the evening will include a live concert, with The Smithereens opening the proceedings at 6:30 pm, followed by Grand Funk Railroad, a legendary rock band, at 8:30 pm.

Ahead of the event, a cinematic promotional video has been released by the city that highlights the personality and energy of the community. The video was filmed at various locations throughout the city and showcases entertainment venues, parks, local businesses, residents, and community events, and capturing the unique atmosphere of Duluth. Officials say the video is intended to serve as both an invitation for the public to take part in the upcoming anniversary festivities, and as a celebration of the identity of Duluth.

Poster printing can be used to promote such distinctive and unique events throughout a city and neighboring communities.

This celebration will be held in downtown Duluth on Saturday, September 12 from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
