New Selfie Stands have been installed in downtown Duluth.
These holders for cell phones are strategically placed to highlight the best features of downtown Duluth and offer photographs that are well-framed. They provide the extra hand needed for these shots and do not require another individual to take the picture.
News of such new enhancements to a downtown area can be made known with flyer printing.
Jessica Bianchi, Community Development Specialist, said that the marketing department developed the idea and these are intended to be used by the entire community. Bianchi said that she came up with the original idea as she was watching people walking around downtown Duluth and taking pictures. She wanted to help them with capturing the best shot while also endeavoring to promote the downtown.
She came up with the idea for the selfie station and designed the holder for the cell phone. She said that as no one made such an item that could be used outdoors the city had to work with A1 Signs in Norcross to create the product.
The picture stations have playful designs that stand out and grab people’s attention. Some of the scenes which they capture include the Historic Duluth Mosaic mural, the Eastern Continental Divide Marker, and Duluth City Hall. Bianchi said that this is to some extent an extension of the downtown public art.
