Galectin Therapeutics Inc., headquartered in Norcross, recently released its financial results for last year. The company develops drugs that target galectin proteins.
President and CEO of Galectin Therapeutics, Harold H. Shlevin, Ph.D., reported that the company has been involved in a Phase 3 clinical trial of its proprietary drug to help patients who suffer from a form of cirrhosis of the liver, known as NASH cirrhosis. He pointed out that patients who suffer from this form of the disease are more likely to have liver failure and face life-threatening implications.
The company has been working with experts on the disease to provide advice and improve their plan for the clinical trial and has already had discussions with to the Food and Drug Administration, which included a presentation.
Shlevin added that the company is also developing other drugs for cancer therapy and furthering its exploration of the role of galectin in many other important pathologies. Printing services can be used to provide more information about the progress of such companies in their development of medications to help patients with significant debilitating illnesses.
Finally, Shlevin reported that there have been improvements in the capital structure of the company as a result of the support of its largest institutional shareholder, 10X Fund L.P.
It was also announced that Dr. Shlevin will be presenting at the H.C. Wainwright Global Life Sciences Conference taking place in London next month, from April 7 to April 9.
