Mall in Duluth to become mixed-use development
The properties of Macy’s department and furniture store at the Gwinnett Place Mall in Duluth have been purchased by the Urban Redevelopment Agency.
This brings the total ownership of the mall property by the county to 76 acres. The county is planning to convert the mall into a mixed use complex that will bring many new opportunities and changes for businesses and residents of the county.
Banner printing is often used at such locations to inform residents of such purchases and their ramifications for a project.
Nicole Love Hendrickson, chairwomen for Gwinnett County, expressed her thrill about securing the properties of Macy’s at the mall as progress is being made deliberately and rapidly in the redevelopment of the site. She added that this purchase is crucial for attracting high-quality development partners next year and working together to create a revitalized urban center for the businesses, entrepreneurs, and residents of Gwinnett County.
Input has been gathered from the businesses and residents in the county to define and shape the project. The Gwinnett Place Mall Site Revitalization Strategy and the Equitable Redevelopment Plan are studies that have been used to help determine the needs of the community.
CBRE, a global real estate firm, is working with the county to refine the development plans. County officials will release early next year a request for proposals from across the country to find a partner for the redevelopment.
