Congressman joins in effort to deliver meals in Norcross

Sharon Langley, a representative from Norcross Meals on Wheels, was recently joined by United States Representative Rob Woodall, visiting those in the Duluth area.

In keeping with the holiday season, the elderly who were visited that day received their usual meal of vegetables, one piece of meat, a dessert, a drink, and a roll. The Bags in which the meals were delivered also included turkey cutouts.

This was the first time that Woodall had worked with Norcross Meals on Wheels, although he added that he had helped deliver meals as part of the program prior to this visit.

Woodall commented that this program focuses on Americans who have disabilities and those over the age of 60. As the Norcross chapter raises its own funds to support their operation, they can serve anybody who is in need of a meal, regardless of age or any other circumstance. This is why he wanted to visit this chapter and observe the special work that it does.

Sandee Phillips, coordinator of the program in Norcross, expressed her appreciation of Woodall’s attempts and request to join them one day, as it helps to highlight what the group does in the community. Flyers can also be used in such situations to publicize activities, thus helping fundraising efforts gather pace and become widely known.
