The Sweet Auburn Springfest will celebrate 40 years with its return to Auburn next month.
The family-friendly community event highlights Auburn Avenue’s black culture and small businesses that have led to the area's national recognition as an economic hub. In the mid1970s, the Sweet Auburn Historic District was named a National Historic Landmark because of its commerce, faith and civil rights activities.
Springfest will be presented by the Spirit of Sweet Auburn (SOSA), a non-profit group that works to preserve the legacy of the region through community events and economic development.
The district’s two-day festival will feature three stages with up to 150 live performances and is expected to attract as many as 100,000 people.
The Sweet Auburn Legacy Stage will feature top performers, spoken word artists and live bands. The ATL stage will highlight up-and-coming musicians with a spotlight on hip-hop. On the Unity Stage, spectators will experience the music of local cross-cultural performers, including community groups, choirs and dancers.
In addition to the live performances, there will be a youth activity area, historical displays and tours as well as food and business retailers.
Vendors who take part in festivals often use poster printing to promote their products and services.
Sweet Auburn Springfest will be held on May 9, 2026, from 11 am to 9pm and May 10, 2026, from 1 to 8 pm along Auburn Ave NE in Atlanta.
