Country performer to appear in Winter Park

A country artist whose music comes from his experiences and struggles is on the way to Winter Park.

Justin Townes Earle, son of singer Steve, has fought his own demons to find his place in the world. His new album, “Entitled Single Mothers,” is his fifth, and the work is visceral, reminding fans of his first release, “Yuma.”

In order to keep the material fresh, “Single Mothers” was recorded live by Earle and his touring band, a four-piece outfit, with little practice. This creates the feeling of an unrehearsed jam session. On two tracks, “It's Cold in This House,” and “Picture in a Drawer,” the only artists playing are Earle, on guitar, and Paul Neihaus on pedal steel.

In this album, Earle tackles subjects such as irresponsible fathers and troubled marriages, offering his take on these and other sensitive subjects. A review of the release said:

“He’s focused, clean, and churning out some of the best material he’s ever written.”

It goes on to say that live in concert, Earle:

“ . . . makes no secret of the fact that he has a famous father . . . but songs like the achingly poignant 'Mama’s Eyes' are as good, if not better, than anything Steve has ever penned.”

Earle will be at Dexter's New Standard on Orlando Avenue on August 22, at 7:30 pm, with doors opening at 7:00 pm. Flyer printing can provide handouts for advertising events like this.
