The Natural Resources and Sustainability Department of Winter Park will be hosting a “Fix It! Don’t Pitch It” event later this month.
This event will feature skilled volunteers offering free minor repairs for household items that are gently used, including bicycles, electronics, jewelry, eyeglasses, small appliances, clothing, watches, and various textiles. Support of the Sustainability Action Plan of the city is the goal of this event, as it will help to extend the life of items used very day, promote recycling, and reduce waste.
Money can be saved by participants as they have their items repaired rather than replaced, and they can also connect with knowledgeable volunteers in the community and learn valuable skills in repairing items.
Participants are asked that the electronics they bring are fully charged and to also bring any parts that may be required to fix an item. Each person will be able to bring no more than two items.
“Fix It! Don’t Pitch It” was initiated by the Winter Park Library and the city of Winter Park. This is a unique workshop that enables individuals with expertise in repairing items to share their knowledge with the community.
Such events can look to poster printing services for promotional purposes.
The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 30 at the Winter Park Community Center on W. New England Avenue.
