The city of Winter Park will be holding a celebration of the 250th anniversary of America this year through July.
An exhibit called “American Mosaic: Stories in Color, Clay, and Canvas” will soon be open at the Showalter Hughes Community Gallery, the Hannibal Square Heritage Center Visiting Exhibition Gallery, and the Alice & William Jenkins Gallery. This exhibit will show the changing story of the identity of America through several types of media and will be on display in these three galleries from storytellers from the region of Central Florida, Master of Fine Arts students from the University of central Florida, and Crealdé faculty. This will open on Friday February 6 and close on Saturday March 23.
The Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens will be holding an unveiling event of the original sculpture for the Official Copper Dollar that was created for the Sesquicentennial Exposition in Philadelphia for the 150th anniversary of the country, The official commemorative coins and the relief sculpture will be displayed together from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday February 8 at the Polasek Museum. Admission to the event and the museum is free and there will be a family-friendly and hands-on educational activity for visitors to design and create their own patriotic coin relief.
Such celebratory events can be promoted throughout a city and neighboring communities with poster printing.
