New bank to come to Winter Park

A new bank, led by the group Portrait Bank, has submitted regulatory applications to the state of Florida and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. to establish itself in Winter Park.

The bank will hire 25 people when it opens. The chairman of the bank’s board of 14 members will be Ed Timberlake. The bank itself will occupy 5,000 square feet in Winter Park and will be the bank’s headquarters with office space as well as a branch of the bank with a drive-through ATM.

New service providers in a community can benefit from brochure printing to provide more detailed information about their services and their focus on supporting small businesses.

The CEO and president of the new bank, Erik Weiner, said that he has found that many banks lack creativity and customization and are not proactive in supporting and helping businesses. He said that he felt it was time to start a bank that was focused on the community.

Weiner added that a majority of the central Florida market is served primarily by big banks, and some customers are finding it difficult to get support for their needs in their growing businesses. He pointed out that community banks are disappearing with only seven banks having headquarters in central Florida 25 years ago.

The bank is expected to open in the first quarter of next year.
