Workshop to be held on assistive technology

A free virtual workshop on the use of assistive technology tools to help those with disabilities will be held by the Ferd and Gladys Alpert Jewish Family Service (JFS) in West Palm Beach later this month.

It will be hosted by the Melvin J. and Claire Levine LifePlanning program, a branch of the Jewish Disabilities Network of Alpert JFS. LifePlanning is a non-sectarian program open to all people.

The featured speaker at the workshop will be Ana Nevares of the Florida Alliance for Assistive Services and Technology (FASST). The event will cover how assistive technology can improve daily life at home, work, and school, as these tools can help people with disabilities to improve their overall capabilities and achieve a greater level of independence. Nevares said she is looking forward to this workshop and the opportunity to highlight the many assistive technology resources offered by the state and FAAST, which can be used by the entire community at no cost. Such workshops are often promoted throughout a community with poster printing.

LifePlanning program director, Tami Lustig, MSW, expressed her delight in having Nevares on board to share her knowledge of these technology tools so that the functional capacities of those with disabilities can be improved.

The workshop will take place on Wednesday, February 24 at 2:00 pm.
