Unique group to perform in Tampa

A long-running band will be bringing their beloved music and performance style to Tampa for a pair of shows in mid-December.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) was created by the late Paul O’Neill in 1996. The ultimate dream for O’Neill and his co-founders was to blend genres into something that the world had never seen before, along with creating the most wild and memorable live concerts.

TSO’s sound is described as a combination of opera, progressive rock, and a sprinkling of whatever else inspires the artists. A trilogy of Christmas albums became the group’s most popular works, providing original compositions and new takes on holiday classics. Composers in addition to O’Neill include Robert Kinkel, Jon Oliva, and Al Pitrelli. Current band members total 36, 20 of which provide vocals, 14 are players of various instruments, and two are labeled “storytellers.”

The trilogy of holiday albums that gave the group their legacy began with “Christmas Eve and Other Stories” (1996), “The Christmas Attic” (1998), and “The Lost Christmas Eve” (2004).

The Ghost of Christmas Eve Tour will come to the Amalie Arena, with both concerts to be held on the same day – Sunday, December 18. Tickets across both shows range in price from $49.50 to $895, with some of the costs being resales. Merchandise with the artist’s Logo Design is often sold at concerts. The shows will begin at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm.
