Over a year ago, EquiAlt bought a historic house that was located at 3210 East Eighth Avenue. The structure is 176 years old, has four bedrooms, and has now been moved to the National Historic District in Hyde Park, according to an article on the WFTV9 website.
Moving the home resembled working on a giant jigsaw puzzle. Comprising 2,000 square feet, the building was disassembled, and the majority of the first floor was moved one day, with the second floor being moved the next morning. The final room – one on the first floor comprising 500 square feet – came a day later.
For the next 18 months, renovations will be carried out to make certain the home, which is in dilapidated condition, earns historic designation. In order to qualify, most of the exterior has to remain intact; any new repairs have to match the time period of the original.
When the renovations are complete, the historic building will become EquiAlt’s new headquarters. The company owns and manages over 400 Central Florida properties.
Brian Davison, the CEO of EquiAlt, said the company’s goal “is to have a fully restored oldest house in Tampa,” adding that he would like to see hundreds of people drive past it every day.
Properties like this interest many people, so officials could work with a brochure printing company to create an informative booklet about the structure.
