Music royalty to visit Tampa

A pair of legendary acts will be bringing their show to Tampa in late August.

Santana reached the world with their performance at Woodstock in 1969. Since then, the group has gone through many changes and released a strong catalog of records. One constant has been the leading man, Carlos Santana. Other current members include his wife Cindy Blackman Santana, Benny Rietveld, Andy Vargas, David K Matthews, Paoli Mejias, Karl Perazzo, Tommy Anthony, and Ray Greene. Some of the hits to the Santana name are “Oye Como Va,” “Samba Pa Ti,” “Black Magic Woman,” and “Evil Ways”.

Also on the billing are Earth, Wind & Fire. The band launched in the 1970s, taking a combination of several genres to create a unique sound. The group’s strongest claim to fame is their track “September”, which people across the internet use to celebrate the 21st of that month every time it comes around. Members currently include original player Verdine White as well as Philip Bailey, Myron McKinley, Ralph Johnson, B. David Whitworth, Philip Bailey Jr., Morris O’Connor, John Paris, and Serg Dimitrijevic. Other songs in the catalog include “Let’s Groove,” “Boogie Wonderland,” and “Devotion.”

The Miraculous Supernatural Tour will be putting on a show at the MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre, which is located on the FL State Fairgrounds. A “Hot Seat Package” is available for each band, both costing $260. Both include a reserved ticket and a piece of merchandise with a graphic design relating to the respective artist. The Santana Bundle also includes a lithograph and laminate. The Earth, Wind & Fire Bundle has a special host and early access to the merchandise booth.

Regular tickets range from $36 to $1,750, with some being resale prices. Doors for the concert will open at 7:00 pm on August 27.
