Music legends to perform in Tampa

A pair of acts with long careers will be coming together for a show in Tampa in early September.

The show will feature Rod Stewart, with support from the band Cheap Trick. Stewart started his solo work in 1969, continuing to also perform in groups until 1975, when The Faces disbanded. Continuing to evolve his sound, Stewart has earned chart-topping hits and many awards. A selection of his catalog includes “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?”, “Have You Ever Seen The Rain” (originally by Creedence Clearwater Revival), “Maggie May”, “Sailing”, and “All For Love”.

Cheap Trick is a group currently consisting of Rick Nielsen, Robin Zander, Daxx Nielsen, and Tom Petersson. Daxx is the son of fellow member Rick. Since 1976, the band have dealt with many challenges, including member changes and not having a label until 2016 after leaving their previous one in 1995. However, the men have been able to overcome these obstacles. A few of the tunes to their name are “Mighty Wings”, “I Want You to Want Me”, “Don’t Be Cruel”, “Gonna Raise Hell”, and “Blackberry Way”.

The Rod Stewart with special guest Cheap Trick Tour will be closing out its run with the show in the Amalie Arena. Merchandise with a graphic design relating to the artists on stage is often for sale at concerts like this one. Tickets range in price from $45.75 to $1,575. Some of the higher values are set at resale pricing.

Continuing construction may affect traffic surrounding the venue. Links to parking options are available through the arena’s website. The concert will kick off at 7:30pm on September 3rd.
