The City of Sunrise will organize a themed race in the community to help the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
The Trick or Trot 5K is a family-friendly athletic experience where people can have fun running in their Halloween costumes. There will be a 5K race and a dash that children ages ten and younger can enter. The race will take place at the Sunrise Civic Center Amphitheater. Participants are allowed to bring strollers to the trot. Those who register for the event and pick up their pre-race packets will receive a themed T-shirt.
The Paralyzed Veterans of America is an organization that was founded in 1946 to improve the quality of life for seriously injured veterans with helpful resources and events. The group offers education on paralyzing conditions and has invested over $50 million towards researching cures. Veterans can use the organization for legal services, medical services, and career assistance. The association also organizes sporting events for paralyzed veterans to help them with their fitness needs.
The Trick or Trot 5K will take place on Saturday, October 17th at 7:30 am. Entry to the 5K will cost $30 per person, and the children’s dash is $10. Discounts to the 5K are available until after September 30th. People can pick up their race packets at the Sunrise Civic Center Community Room on Thursday, October 15th.
