Sunrise will hold a community competition in March where people can run through the scenic Markham Park.
The Sunrise Half Marathon & 5K is a yearly competitive event that invites runners to join a race that runs along Markham Park’s trails. The course will have many types of paths that go through different habitats in the park, including flat paths and gentle hills. Water stops will be provided to participants throughout the race, and there will be refreshments available at the finish line. All runners who complete the course can get a finisher’s medal that can be engraved for $10 at the event.
There will be awards available for those who complete the race the fastest in their designated age groups. The event uses timing technology that provides live results as people finish, so runners will be able to see where they place and collect their awards as soon as they cross the finish line. Athletes can go to the event’s designated awards area for their prizes. Every runner will receive themed shirts for entering the race.
The Sunrise Half Marathon & 5K will be on Saturday, March 21st and will be held at 6:30 am. People can participate in the 5K for $49, and the half marathon will cost $109 to join. The cost of both events will increase on March 21st. Sports organizations in charge of running competitions like this can use poster printing to make ads that promote their events to local athletes.
