The Sunrise Civic Center’s art gallery will have an exhibition opening in April that celebrates the Florida Panthers.
The Home Team is an exhibition that documents the back-to-back Stanley runs of the Florida Panthers. The series is a photo collection of the sports team that captures moments of victory and invokes a feeling of community with other sports fans. The photos reflect the energy and emotion behind the Stanley wins and serve as a time capsule of a rare sports dynasty. Those who attend the opening reception of The Home Team can enjoy light refreshments.
The exhibition was created by Lauren Sopourn, an experienced sports photographer who studied at Florida Atlantic University and started her career by taking photos for the university athletics department. She is also the founder of Sports & Media Nation, a business that creates opportunities for women in a male-dominated industry. Sopourn has won the Pro Football Hall of Fame Photography Award three times, and her work has been featured on billboards and printed publications.
The opening to the exhibition will be held on Wednesday, April 8th at 6:00 pm. There is no cost to see the unveiling of The Home Team, and registration isn’t needed. The photo collection can be viewed at the Sunrise Civic Center until May 9th. Artists who hold opening receptions can use poster printing to share event details with the community.
