A history lecturer will give a presentation about pirates at the Sunrise Dan Pearl Branch Library in June.

The presentation is an online broadcast that guests can watch at the library. There will also be refreshments like candy bars and sodas that people can purchase for $1. The pirate lecture will cover topics such as the sinking of the 1715 Spanish treasure fleet and the invasion of British pirates from Jamaica.

The lecture will be presented by David Head, a historian and author who is part of the Florida Humanities Speakers Bureau. Head graduated from Niagara University and the University at Buffalo and currently gives lectures at the University of Central Florida. He has written several Books, such as The Golden Age of Piracy and A Republic of Scoundrels. Head has given lectures at venues like the Kathleen Area Historical Society and the St. Petersburg Museum of History.
