Bike/Walk Central Florida based in Orlando has been recognized by the League of American Bicyclists with a Platinum Bicycle Friendly Business (BFB) award.
It joins an elite group of several other businesses with such a recognition in the state, and puts it among over 1,500 businesses across the country looking to make the United States more bike friendly. The League will provide the organization with technical assistance and other tools to further support those who cycle. News of such recognitions is often made known throughout the community and a region with banner printing.
The Bicycle Friendly Business award recognizes the contributions of an organization in accelerating the movement to make the US more bike friendly for everyone. This year there were 13 organizations based in Orlando that were designated as a BFB, in addition to Bike/Walk Central Florida, making the city account for 20% of the cohort for Fall 2022.
Buddy Dyer, mayor of Orlando, said the city has been working hard to transform the city into one known for its bicycle-friendliness. He said this will make the city an economically vibrant and sustainable place that will be able to offer multiple modes of transportation for everyone. He expressed his pride in the city for being one of many across the country making investments, along with local businesses that are celebrating and welcoming their patrons and employees who arrive by bicycle.
