College in Orlando earns high rankings

The 2026 College Guide and Rankings of Washington Monthly has ranked the University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orlando as No. 11 in public universities.

This cements the recognition of UCF as one of the leading institutions in the country for public service, impact on research, and student success. It was also ranked as No. 28 in the list of Best College for Your Tuition (and Tax) Dollars and No. 4 in the list of universities in the Southeast.

This sustained recognition reflects the commitment of UCF to supporting student achievement, expanding access, and graduating nearly 19,000 students each year who are ready to join the workforce. This is the highest number in Florida.

Washington Monthly said:

“Instead of rewarding colleges for their exclusivity, prestige and wealth, our 2026 Best Colleges for Your Tuition (and Tax) Dollars ranking measures how much they help ordinary middle- and working-class students get ahead in life, and whether they encourage those students to participate in their democracy.”

Universities are evaluated by Washington Monthly based on their contributions to the good of public and measures factors such as service, research, and social mobility. Colleges are highlighted if they enable students to be economically successful and also advance the nation and their communities.
