Orlando to hold special exhibit for Black history month

The Call to Artists for the 2026 Black History Month Exhibition has been announced by the city of Orlando.

This is the hundredth year of national commemorations of Blank history. As it is also the 205th anniversary of if the independence of the United States, the city of Orlando will honor this legacy with a special exhibition at the Terrace Gallery.

The theme of this year’s exhibition is the exploration of the impact and meaning of Black history and its commemorations over the past 100 years. Some of the themes on which artists can reflect include the power of remembrance, education, and storytelling; the connection between contemporary identities and historical legacy; the contributions of scholars, trailblazers, and everyday heroes; and the origins and evolution of Black History Month.

Applications for the exhibition should include up to four images of artwork; the resume or biography of the artist; the name of the artists and the preferred name for labels. And a short description of each work, such as the title, year created, medium, and dimensions.

Artists can be made aware of such calls for artwork and the ensuring exhibition with flyer printing.

All submissions must be received by Friday January 2. Selected artists will be notified by Wednesday January 7. Artwork needs to be delivered between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday January 28. The exhibit will run from Tuesday February 3 through Tuesday March 31.
