Orlando partnership to provide scholarships

Valencia College in Orlando and leaders from the Orange County Public Schools have announced that scholarships will be awarded to students at Jones High School to cover the cost of a technical or college education at the college. These scholarships are funded by a donation from Lift Orlando.

This program is modeled after the successful Osceola Prosper initiative of Osceola County and is designed to increase the enrollment in college for students at Jones High School by eliminating the obstacle of cost.

News of such scholarships and their benefits for students is often made known with flyer printing.

Beginning with the classes of 2025–2026 through 2028–2029, every graduate of Jones High School will qualify for a scholarship that covers all tuition and fees with no out-of-pocket expenses. Students can apply the scholarship toward earning an associate degree or completing short-term, hands-on technical training programs in fields like construction, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, and transportation logistics.

Qualifying for the scholarship requires students to apply to the college and register for a technical training program or at least one course by the spring term following their graduation from high school. They also need to fill out the requite financial aid form.

Kathleen Plinske, president of Valencia College, expressed her gratitude to Lift Orlando for their partnership to bring the experience of a college education to students at Jones High School. Plinske added that this will transform the lives of hundreds of students and their families.
