Orlando basketball team recognized for outstanding work environment

The Orlando Magic has been recognized by The Sports Business Journal as one of the best places in the sports industry to work.

The Sports Business Journal is a national publication that is the heart of sports business. Such special recognitions are often made known throughout a community with poster printing.

This is the first year of the award by the publication, and it recognizes the companies that are the best across select categories for their unwavering commitment to their employees and for their leadership. The Orlando Magic won silver medalist honors in the category of league, team, and governing body with 50 or more employees.

Alex Martins, CEO of the Orlando Magic, said that the team is honored and humbled to be recognized as one of the best places to work. He added that the organization is more than a place to work, but is a family. He said that the owners of the team, the DeVos Family, have a mentality that is part of everything that is done in the organization, balancing the excitement and fun of sports with hard work.

The Orlando Magic have won six division championships under the ownership of the DeVos family. In addition, the organization donates over $2 million to the local community by donating tickets, sponsoring events, grants, and autographing merchandise. Through the Orlando Magic Youth Foundation, the franchise has donated over $29 million to support at-risk youth.
