Orlando Fringe mini-fest to return with mixed format

The Orlando Fringe Festival will be holding its fifth annual Winter Mini-Fest, designed to present a bite-sized version of the typical showcase of amateur theater.

This year’s Mini-Fest will feature a blend of in-person and virtual experiences. The in-person shows will take place outdoor with social distancing guidelines in place to present a safe and unique experience. Virtual events will be streamed live and available for viewing for the following week, making it easy to catch up on potentially conflicting shows. The diverse program includes comedic shows like Paco Erhard’s “Five-Step Guide to Being German”, one-person storytelling performances by Fringe favorites like Martin Dockerty and Ryan Adams Wells, live musicals like Josie & Grace, and even art lessons.

There will also be an accompanying Kids Fringe, including in-person shows like Brain Bros and A Circus Show, as well as online activities. Fringe events have emerged in cities across the world as a celebration of theatre, comedy, and other performance arts. Such events often allocate spaces by lottery to encourage performers of all levels of experience to take part. Fringe shows are typically community efforts, advertised through tools like flyer printing and word of mouth.

Orlando Winter Mini-Fringe will take place between January 7 and 10, both online and at various in-person venues. Virtual shows will also be screened on the Mini Lawn behind Orlando Shakes.
