Planning and Zoning Commission to appoint new members at next meeting
The Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduling its next meeting to decide on nominees for future vacancies on the board itself.
This administrative board conducts hearings on zoning appeals and is tasked with determining the status of proposed construction plans such as whether those contracts conform to the safety standards stated by the city council. They may occasionally recommend zoning ordinances to City Commissioners.
As of now, the city advisory board has a total of six members, where one of them must be a resident of Ocoee, Florida. If the city government were to fill subsequent openings on the Planning and Zoning Commission, it is required to elect them through a majority vote by the City Commission, in which candidates are nominated by the city mayor.
Likewise, the City Commission members and the mayor are permitted to each elect two nominees in case another board member ends up resigning. More importantly, the Planning and Zoning Commission members must agree to evaluate the conditions of Ocoee’s infrastructure for a three-year term, or at least until they are replaced by their successors. Furthermore, current members cannot be eligible to serve a second term unless after passing the third year.
The city advisory meeting will take place on March 10, at 6:30 pm inside the Ocoee City Hall. Letterheads could emphasize the formality of documents presented at a city government meeting.
