The Florida Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) will hold an event at an Ocoee library in April for those who want to self-publish.
A Small Beginnings Self-Publishing Plan is an event where people can learn about the self-publishing process from an experienced author. The host of the workshop is Robert Herrick, a member of the SCBWI who has written Books such as Walter the Worried School Bus, Ten Is Too Many, and Cryptids. Herrick has also created a step-by-step guide for self-publishing children's Books. The workshop will go over Herrick's 12-step publishing plan and reveal publishing secrets.
The SCBWI is an organization that helps authors and illustrators by providing professional networking opportunities and resources that support their careers. The group also offers awards and grants to financially support creators while they work on children's book projects. The SCBWI even has a YouTube channel with how-to guides for children's publications. The current executive director of the SCBWI is Sarah Baker.
The self-publishing workshop will be held at the West Oaks Branch and Genealogy Center in Ocoee. The event will be on Saturday, April 4 from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.
